Also known as Sea Guardians, Sea Sprites, Water Elementals and Water Singers. These creatures were originally recorded as having been seen in the Aegean Sea, off the coast of Greece, and were regarded as demi-gods at one time.
Also recorded in British folklore, as well as in Germany and other European countries, the Middle East and Indonesia.
Reference is made to Undines in Ceremonial Magick and in such have the power to enhance the power of spells and rituals. They are in fact called upon in the Order of the Golden Dawn to 'praise God' in a particular ritual called 'Benedictite Omnia Opera'.
Other elementals include Gnomes (earth), Salamaders (fire) and Sylphs (Air).
