Raw Head & Bloody Bones

Sometimes simply called 'Bloody Bones', and also known as 'Tommy Rawhead' depending on where the story was told, this creature was designed to frighten children into good behaviour.
One story describes a gruesome figure who lived in a dark cupboard. If you were to dare to glimpse him you would see him sitting with blood streaming down his head and face, on his pile of bones that had belonged to bad children who lied or swore.
Another version describes him as a monster who drags children to their deaths into deep pools or rivers if they ventured too close to the edge.
